Carmel Valley Benches - June 27 & 28, 2009

One of my favorite things to do is park myself on a bench and watch the world unfold around me. And wow, did I get the chance to do this on my Independence Road Trip! There were charming benches in Carmel Valley but in Paso Robles my bench fascination turned into an obsession and by Yosemite, surrounded by rocks and trees, the very concept of a bench took on new meaning. Between Yosemite and Coloma, I made a quick stop in Jamestown and found a few more for my collection. Then it was on to Coloma and in additon to those in town, right at the B&B where I stayed was an assortment the owner referred to as yard art. I really wasn't thinking about benches during my quick side-trip tour through Old Town Sacramento, but discovered some in my photos later. At my final desination, Cavallo Point in Sausalito, designed for relaxation and contemplation, benches were everywhere. Imagine the stories they could tell!
