Gloria's Backstory

To say Gloria Hankshaw has a colorful past is an understatement. In 1968 she remodeled her parents bomb shelter to create the CyberCafe Underground, a coffee house featuring Bay Area poets, artists and musicians. Two decades later she transformed the old orchard land above the CyberCafe into an incubator site, and it was here in the summer of '99 that she birthed a start-up on a mission to restore FuN to the planet with a mystery product code-named FuNshine. Gloria changed her last name to Samsa in y2k, a tribute to Fanz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" - inspiration for her infamous Topanga Canyon retreat that spring, where she led her staff in survival exercises, pretending to be roaches for an afternoon. Gloria, herself having a propensity for morphing her identity, disappeared when the dot com bubble burst. Back in the saddle again, she has adopted a new literary-homage surname for the occasion, and is out and about releasing FuNshine around the globe.

Gloria has a passion for bench-watching. And she found a wide assortment of inspiring seating on her road trip!
